This is a very special chambered Les Paul (Chambered-Reissue ).

It is a 2007 that was hand picked by myself at Gibson in July of 2007.

One of the people that tried it
was Ed King (of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame and author of Sweet Home Alabama).

This is the sister to his chambered 58.
Out of all the ones there, this one has the closest tone to the one Mr. King bought.
One of the photos, which is very poor quality, is of it hanging on the wall at the Gibson Custom Shop.

The guitar is a Washed Cherry and weighs 7lbs 13oz. It has a very typical 58 neck but it is not a large baseball bat. Mr. King said that day that he has been looking and trying Les Pauls for years trying to get the feel and tone of his original 59 burst and these are the closest he has ever played. He was so impressed that he bought one that day... and later another one.
We all know that Billy Gibbons and Charlie Daniels play them too.

This is a very early 2007 production guitar with a nice flame to it.
In typical 58 style, the flame can disappear from certain angles and from other angles it will jump out at you.

ED King says:

"I told him (Curt) he'd find out that these are the most 'musical'
Les Paul's Gibson has made since the '50s. I play mine 3-4
times a week...it sounds exactly like Clapton's on the Fresh
Cream stuff (for me, the benchmark Les Paul sound). Strats
are great guitars...but the solos to I FEEL FREE and I'M SO
GLAD just flat-out get me off. Every note is SOLID, just like my '59.
And the only free thing Gibson has EVER given me was a GUITAR CASE! (I'm not kidding.)"

The Chambered 1958 Les Paul Reissue VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Electric Guitar from the Gibson Custom Shop has the great
features, tone, and looks that made the original '58 Les Paul a classic, but with an ultra-light body! The Chambered '58
reissue guitar features a carved maple top, mahogany back, and one-piece mahogany neck with rounded '50's neck profile,
single ply cream binding on the top and fingerboard, reissue trapezoid inlays, nickel plated hardware, and an original
ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge.

The Gibson Burstbucker Pickups used in the Chambered '58 are historically accurate "Patent Applied For" replicas with an airy tone and unbalanced coils. A medium output Burstbucker 1 is used in the neck position, while the Burstbucker 2 in the bridge position has a slightly hotter output. Both have unpolished magnets and non-potted coils like the original "Patent Applied For" pickups.
